AAB Statement: Ben Niall

Statement from the Agent Accreditation Board in relation to player agent Ben Niall.

The Agent Accreditation Board (AAB) has found player agent Ben Niall to be in breach of Clause 13.10 of the Agents’ Code of Conduct, which prohibits an agent from doing, or failing to do, anything which results in a Player being in breach of the Regulations or the AFL Rules & Regulations.

It was found that Mr Niall failed to lodge an independent agreement in respect of a commercial arrangement for a client, as required under AFL rules. The player was not sanctioned for the breach by the AFL.

In determining the appropriate penalty, the AAB noted that Mr Niall has no prior disciplinary action under the regulations, at all times has taken responsibility for the breach and has co-operated with both the original AFL investigation and subsequent AFLPA investigation.

After considering all of the circumstances, the AAB has sanctioned Mr Niall with a fine of $2,500 (half of which is suspended) and further education regarding the relevant AFL rules.
