Hodge, Franklin, Ablett, Betts, Hope, Brennan and Riewoldt are just some of the AFL players who will be appearing as emojis on phones across Australia from today.

The AFL Players’ Association, in partnership with StarMojis, is excited to introduce the first dedicated sporting emoji app in Australia, AFL Players Moji.

Designed in collaboration with the players themselves, the app sees more than 40 of the AFL’s best players, including Patrick Dangerfield, Rory Sloane, Max Gawn, Daisy Pearce and Scott Pendlebury, recreated in emoji form.

Launching just in time for the finals series, AFL Players Moji allows fans to communicate with family and friends using hundreds of unique and exclusive emoji stickers, animations, audio and video.

Adelaide Crows star midfielder and AFL Players’ MVP contender Rory Sloane is thrilled to see himself featured on the AFL Players’ Moji app.

“I couldn’t be more stoked to be involved in AFL Players Moji along with some of the best male and female players in the league,” he said.

“To see ourselves recreated as an emoji is so exciting and I know I’ll be using my AFL Players’ Moji app flat out during finals season and I’m sure they will be the source of some banter at the MVP Awards next Tuesday night.”

AFL Players’ Association Paul Marsh said it’s exciting that AFL players are at the forefront of fan engagement in launching AFL Players Moji.

“It’s fantastic to see the players so enthusiastic about being involved in a project such as the AFL Players Moji app to further connect fans with their favourites of the game,” he said.

“The NFL Players’ Association launched their player emoji app last week so it’s great to see that fans of Australia’s biggest game are being exposed to worldwide trends in a timely manner.”

The AFL Players Moji app not only includes current AFL players but also retired legends and AFL Players’ MVP winners such as Chris Judd, Dane Swan and Wayne Carey and personalities such as Eddie McGuire, Gerard Whateley and Dermott Brereton.

Football commentating legend Dennis Cometti not only has his own emoji, but has voiced a number of classic footy sayings for app users to share with their friends.

Sherrin also make up a large part of the app, featuring the ‘Colour Me Sherrin’ range of characters.
