Adelaide co-captain, Chelsea Randall, has rocketed to the top of the Shadforth Financial Group AFLCA AFLW Champion Player of the Year Award leaderboard after polling nine votes for her Round 4 performance.
The Adelaide star collected 15 disposals and six tackles as her side completed the first ever AFLW draw on Sunday and was named as the equal-best player on the ground with the GWS Giants’ Alicia Eva.
Polling five, five, seven and nine coaches’ votes in the first four weeks of the season, Randall now sits two votes clear of the competition, with the Western Bulldogs’ Emma Kearney, who received seven votes for her 26-disposal display against the Blues, in second place.
Kearney’s teammate and AFLW record-breaker, Brooke Lochland, was unanimously named as the best player on the ground by the respective coaches in Friday night’s encounter after kicking seven goals.
Brisbane’s Kate Lutkins also received maximum votes from the coaches, after collecting 18 disposals in the close encounter with Fremantle on Saturday.
