Losing by 40 points didn’t stop Dayne Zorko from dominating against Port Adelaide.
The Brisbane speedster polled 10 votes in the 2017 Shadforth Financial Group AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award in Round 13 following his 32 disposals, 12 tackles, 11 inside 50s and two goals against the Power on Saturday.
Tagging is also back in vogue, with Mark Hutchings polling three coaches’ votes for his job on Geelong’s Joel Selwood on Thursday night.
Hutchings spent the majority of the game directly opposed to Selwood, with the Cats skipper managing 19 touches for the match, while Hutchings collected only five possessions of his own.
Hutchings’ effort resulted in teammate Elliot Yeo reclaiming the lead in the Champion Player of the Year Award, with the 24-year-old Eagle receiving two votes to lead Selwood by one after Round 13.
Along with Zorko, four players polled maximum votes from the weekend’s play, including St Kilda’s Seb Ross (32 disposals), Richmond’s Alex Rance (21 touches while opposed to Lance Franklin), Carlton’s Bryce Gibbs (43 disposals) and Melbourne’s Michael Hibberd (27 touches).
