Franklin to lead Indigenous tour

The AFL has released the final squad to travel to Ireland for the International Rules series.

Headlined by new Sydney recruit Lance Franklin the squad will play test matches on October 19 at Breffni Park in Cavan on October 19 and Dublin at Croke Park on October 26.

Franklin will fly home early missing the second test to attend the wedding of former teammate Brent Guerra, but there will be no shortage of talent on the park with Geelong flyer Steven Motlop and new Adelaide forward Eddie Betts included.

The squad includes two recent retirees in Aaron Davey and Nathan Lovett-Murray along with two players yet to make their AFL debut; Melbourne’s Dom Barry and Adelaide’s Cameron Ellis-Yolman.

Sydney Swans great Michael O’Loughlin will coach the Indigenous team, with support from a senior coaching panel comprising Rodney Eade, Tadhg Kennelly and Andrew McLeod.

The AFL Players’ Indigenous Advisory Board will be represented by Franklin, Davey, Lovett-Murray and Jarrod Harbrow
