‘He was a guy I wanted to hurt’: Carey

It’s hard to think of a bigger name to have come out of footy in the last 50 years than Wayne Carey.

“He was a guy I actually wanted to hurt. He really got under my skin.”

The dual North Melbourne premiership captain, regarded by footy journalist Mike Sheahan as the best player of all time, is the latest to feature in aflplayers.com.au‘s Legends Series.

In a wide-ranging interview with footy writer John Harms, Carey opens up North Melbourne’s colourful club culture during the ‘90s, his approach to uniting the playing group during his time as captain, and how Denis Pagan got the best out of him.

The full video will be available on aflplayers.com.au in coming days. For now, here’s a teaser – where Carey talks about the most annoying player he ever lined up on.
