Growing up in the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, the other side of the country was the last place Luke Shuey wanted to go to play in the AFL.
But it didn’t take long for Western Australia to win him over.
“Looking back, it was the best thing that ever happened to me,” Shuey told AFLPlayers.com.au.
“I lost my sister in my first year over here so that was number one but moving away from mum and dad was hard.
“There’s an element of having to find your own feet and make your way through life a bit.”
