Carlton has signed decorated AFL and NFL star Saverio Rocca as a part-time goal-kicking coach.
The former AFL full-forward played 257 games for North Melbourne and Collingwood between 1992 and 2006 before switching over to the NFL from 2007 to 2013.
Rocca will serve as Carlton’s goal-kicking coach for the remainder of the 2015 season.
Rocca, who is 13th on the all-time VFL/AFL leading goal-kickers list, booted 748 goals and 411 behinds – 64 per cent accuracy – during in his time in the AFL.
The 41-year-old was renowned for having a booming kick and booting nine goals in the drawn inaugural Anzac Day clash in 1995.
His best season came in 1995 where the then 21-year-old kicked 93 majors for the season which was capped off when he won Collingwood’s best and fairest.
Rocca’s moved to NFL punting shortly after his AFL career ended, leading to trials for Philadelphia Eagles where he eventually played between 2007 and 2010 and set and NFL record as the oldest rookie ever at 33-years of age.
He was signed to the Washington Redskins for the 2011 season and was released from his contract at the end of the 2013 NFL season.
