Adelaide: Paul Seedsman

With Brodie Smith going down early with a knee injury, Paul Seedsman’s pace and penetrating boot became all the more valuable on Thursday night. While he only gathered 12 disposals, the long-sleeved former Magpie used his assets well, with a couple of daring runs and a crucial goal from the pocket. Seedsman proved he could add a little more X-factor in the last two weeks of the year.

Richmond: Josh Caddy

Playing against his former side on the biggest stage didn’t overawe Josh Caddy. In what was his first game since Round 21 due to a hamstring injury, the former Cat and Sun worked tirelessly during Richmond’s dominant 51-point win, finishing with two goals and 17 disposals.

Sydney: Dean Towers

Goals were bobbing up left, right and centre for the Swans on Saturday afternoon and Dean Towers capitalised. The versatile 27-year-old kicked a career-high three goals from his 14 disposals — 10 of which were contested — and pinch-hit in the ruck allowing Callum Sinclair to spend more time forward.

West Coast: Drew Petrie

In what was potentially his last game, Drew Petrie wasn’t prepared to have his dreams dashed at the Adelaide Oval for the second year running, propelling the Eagles with two important goals, and repeated hard work in the ruck with 18 hit-outs and six tackles.
