Burgoyne was an inaugural member of the Indigenous Players Advisory Board when it was established in 2011. Burgoyne returns in 2017 as Chair of the board after taking over from the retired Adam Goodes in 2016. Better known as “Silk” Burgoyne has been a key member of the Advisory Board since its inception. Burgoyne is a club legend at both Port Adelaide and Hawthorn where he has won a total of four premierships in over 320 games across his 17 year career. Burgoyne is one of only five indigenous players to reach the 300 game milestone. Burgoyne was selected with pick No. 12 in the 2000 National Draft by Port Adelaide, making his debut as a forward in 2002 before settling into his role as an elite rebounding defender.
