Is Bon, Is good: Magpie clinches her first AFLW MVP of the Week

A career-best performance from Collingwood midfielder Brittany Bonnici was enough in the eyes of the fans to see her secure the Round 3 AFLW MVP of the Week, proudly supported by July.

Bonnici, who was nominated for the second time in her career, receiving 54 per cent of the fan vote ahead of Western Bulldogs captain Ellie Blackburn (34 per cent) and GWS Giants young gun Alyce Parker (12 per cent).

The 23-year-old dominated against the Tigers, gathering 31 disposals to go with her 10 marks and four tackles.

Her 31 disposals tied for the fourth-most all-time in an AFLW game, behind Anne Hatchard (35 disposals), Ebony Marinoff (34) and Jaimee Lambert (32).

Continuing her consistent season, Blackburn proved the difference for the Dogs with a game-high 25 disposals, nine tackles and six marks.

Rounding out the three nominees, 20-year-old Parker was against the Giants’ best with 24 touches, six clearances and five inside 50s in their first win of the season.

The AFL Players’ Association AFLW MVP of the Week is in its fourth year and looks to recognise the AFLW’s best performers each round. Fans will get the choice to select the MVP of the Week, after three names have been put forward by the AFLPA.

All fans who vote will go into the running to win a personalised Carry Me bag from July, valued at $65. One lucky winner who votes each week will also go in the draw to win the ultimate July travel collection, including a Carry OnChecked Checked Plus bag valued at $895.
