We’ve seen it hundreds of times, yet the best goalsneak in the game continues to surprise us with his consistent brilliance. The 28-year-old has kicked 10 goals in the last fortnight, and has bagged four or more goals in four of the first six games of 2015.

At this rate, he’ll have no trouble backing up his 50-goal debut season at Adelaide.

SOMETHING NEW

Have we just seen another couple of finals contenders emerge?

Prior to Round 6, GWS and West Coast sat inside the top eight, but had largely flown under the radar – having not beaten any 2014 finalists.  That all changed this weekend with wins over Hawthorn and Port Adelaide, respectively.

Many were expecting the Power to run over the top of the Eagles in the final quarter – the margin was just four points at three-quarter time – but West Coast hung on to win by 10 points.

Interestingly, Port Adelaide had the best fourth-quarter record of any side in 2014, but have won just one final quarter so far this season. West Coast, on the other hand, are the competition’s best performed final-quarter team – having lost just one final term for the year.

SOMETHING BORROWED

The Saints borrowed a trick from Houdini on Saturday, pulling off one of the greatest escapes of recent times in their match against the Bulldogs.

There was plenty for St Kilda fans to be excited about as they watched a 55-point third-quarter deficit disappear before their eyes, but young gun Jack Billings’ final quarter will be remembered for a long time.

SOMETHING BLUE

Injuries are the worst part of our game – it’s not the first time they’ve been included in this column and we’re sure it won’t be the last.

But there’s something particularly upsetting about seeing players who’ve been plagued by injuries falling victim again. Bulldog Clay Smith and Cat Josh Cowan deserve some luck more than most.
