@Home with the Jongs

“Mum is loud and outgoing. Dad is a bit more quiet, so I guess that’s what I love about it – everyone is different and we all get along really well.”

Lin Jong didn’t grow up in a typical footy family.

With four sisters, a mother from Taiwan and a father from East Timor, footy wasn’t a big part of Jong’s early childhood. Now 20, and nine games into an AFL career, Jong is settling into life at Whitten Oval. But as the saying goes, there’s no place like home.

“I probably don’t tell my parents enough how much I appreciate them and my sisters,” Jong admits.

“It’s easy to forget how good you have it when you’ve had that all your life.”

Jong is the latest player to appear in Channel 7’s @Home series, which supports Ladder – the AFL Players’ official charity.

@AFLPlayers are proud to support Ladder – every time a player runs out onto the field for his team, he donates $25 to Ladder.

As a group, players are committed to helping young people who have been homeless find a place where they feel at home. Join the players in supporting Ladder and match their donation today by clicking here. Together we can help Ladder to end youth homelessness.
