Contrary to this evening’s media reports, the AFL Players’ Association never threatened federal court action over the release of the Collingwood Football Club players’ names.

The PA did however ask that neither the AFL nor the club release the names of the players involved until we had spoken to the players and had their approval to do so. This occurred around lunch time today.

We are disappointed not to have been provided with the opportunity to clarify the facts on this issue before the report went to air.
