Young Western Bulldogs supporter Jarvis is your typical AFL nut — he knows every stat and how each one of the players from the Kennel fared in 2017.
But something he didn’t know was one of his favourite players would be knocking on his door and walking him to school. And it’s fair to say Jarvis was surprised when he opened the front door to see Liam Picken with a special pair of Western Bulldogs shoes.
Every October, VicHealth’s Walk to School initiative encourages Victorian primary school kids to walk, ride or scoot to and from school as a way to help students learn healthy habits and achieve the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
Victorian primary schools who register and submit their Walk to School results are eligible to win a visit from an AFL player, while individuals can win a signed AFL jumper if they share a image of their decorated shoes, bike or scooter on social media with the hashtag #WalkToSchool and tag @WalkToSchool.
