Geelong captain Joel Selwood has plenty of motivation to get moving.
The star Cat is one of the game’s hardest trainers, has teammates and coaches to keep him focused, and loves the challenge of working to get the best out of himself.
“What motivates me to be active is being fit and healthy, and being connected with people in the community.” – Brit Davis
But Selwood likes to look outside football to keep active, particularly in the off season.
His experience using VicHealth’s TeamUp app, which has undergone a recent makeover, has also led to his partner Brit Davis downloading the app and getting connected with her new community.
“The VicHealth TeamUp is an initiative I really support. It’s a way people can be more active and live a healthier life,” Selwood said.
“There’s something for everyone on there. Brit has found a few things on there.”
From organised activities like football, netball and Zumba to more recreational pursuits such as biking, walking or jogging groups, TeamUp features more than 1500 activities for all fitness levels and interests.
“What motivates me to be active is being fit and healthy, and being connected with people in the community,” Brit said.
“I am new to Geelong so being on TeamUp I can find people in the area and stay active as well as meet new people.”
Brit met up with Alex Davis, fiancée of Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury, and Richmond star Brett Deledio’s wife Katie recently via the TeamUp app. Watch their experience in the video above.
VicHealth’s TeamUp app can be downloaded for smartphone, via Apple Store (iPhone) and Google Play (android) – or used online via teamup.com.au.
