Dominant Sabrina heads MVP of the Week nominees

Brisbane power forward Sabrina Frederick-Traub has been nominated for the AFLW MVP of the Week, presented presented by Gloria Jean’s, for the second time in 2018 after her stellar performance on Friday night.

With a Grand Final berth on the line, Frederick-Traub kicked four goals and collected 18 disposals as the Lions kicked the biggest score in their short history against the Giants to launch themselves into premiership contention.

The 21-year-old is joined by Fremantle’s Dana Hooker, who collected 25 disposals, eight clearances and a goal in a high-scoring clash against the Blues, and Collingwood’s Jasmine Garner, who managed 16 touches, seven tackles and three goals while putting an end to Adelaide’s season on Sunday.

Hooker earns her second AFLW MVP of the Week nomination after narrowly falling to Melbourne’s Karen Paxman for the Round 2 title, while Garner put in her best performance of the season in Round 7 to feature among the nominees for the first time.

The AFL Players’ Association has partnered with Gloria Jean’s to stage the prestigious AFLW Players’ MVP Award at the end of the season, and the AFLW MVP of the Week, a new concept that provides the fans with the opportunity to vote for the best performer of the round.

Fans will get the choice to select the MVP of the Week, after the three names have been put forward by the AFLPA.

All fans who vote will automatically receive a 2-for-1 coffee voucher to be used at any Gloria Jean’s store, and will go into the running to win the major weekly prize, a Moccamaster Coffee Machine, valued at $450. To vote, simply select the player you deem to be the MVP of the Week. Voting closes on Wednesday, March 21 at 5pm AEDT.
