Captain Phillips crowned AFLW MVP of the Week

Adelaide co-captain Erin Phillips has been voted by the fans as the Round 3 AFLW Players’ MVP of the Week, presented by Gloria Jean’s.

Phillips’ win makes it two MVP of the Week winners from the Adelaide Crows in a row, following her 19 disposals and three goals against Geelong. This is the second time the 33-year-old has received MVP of the Week honours, after also winning in Round 3 of last year.

A late run of votes secured her victory, with Phillips polling 49 per cent, finishing just ahead of teammate Ebony Marinoff, who claimed 40 per cent of the fan vote, after collecting an AFLW record 33 disposals on Sunday against the Cats.

Carlton’s Round 2 rising star nominee Madison Prespakis, who was best-on-ground in the Blues’ first win, rounded out the three nominees with 11 per cent of votes from her 21 disposals and three goals.

The AFL Players’ Association has partnered with Gloria Jean’s to stage the prestigious AFLW Players’ MVP Award at the end of the season, and the AFLW MVP of the Week again in 2019, a concept that provides the fans with the opportunity to vote for the best performer of the round.

Gloria Jean’s is the official coffee partner of the AFL Players’ Association and the proud sponsor of the 2019 AFLW MVP Awards, including the AFLW MVP of the Week competition. Each weekly entrant will receive a 2-for-1 coffee voucher to visit your local Gloria Jeans store.
