AFL COACHES’ VOTES – ROUND 14

Sydney midfielder Dan Hannebery has closed the gap on runaway leader Nat Fyfe in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year.

Hannebery picked up eight votes in Sydney’s win over Port Adelaide while Fremantle star Fyfe added just two in the Dockers’ victory against Brisbane on Sunday.

Fyfe heads the award with 100 votes with Hannebery second on 69.

Scott Pendlebury made a move into third place with 10 votes for his performance in Collingwood’s narrow loss to Hawthorn on Friday night. Cryil Rioli got eight votes from the coaches for his five-goal display.

St Kilda midfielder David Armitage sits fourth in the award after being handed maximum votes against the Bombers on Sunday.

West Coast’s Andrew Gaff continued his impressive season with seven votes against the Demons. The Eagles are the only club with two players in the top 10 – Matt Priddis is the other.

Richmond captain Trent Cotchin’s 10 votes saw him jump into the top 10, while Gary Ablett’s impressive return yielded just three votes from the coaches.
