In recognition of National Reconciliation Week, the AFL Players’ Association has launched its updated Indigenous Map for 2021.
The map highlights the cultural diversity of the AFL and AFLW’s Indigenous players with the league’s 103 male and female Indigenous players represented across 77 language groups.

Hawthorn champion and AFLPA Indigenous Advisory Board member Shaun Burgoyne, a proud Kokatha man, said the map was a vital education resource for people to understand the journeys of AFL and AFLW players.
“The AFLPA’s Indigenous Map represents our legacy and upbringing and acts as an important resource in understanding the different language groups of our male and female players,” Burgoyne said.
“We are proud of our culture and the map goes someway in underlining who and what we represent.”
Reconciliation Week runs from May 27 until June 3.
