Some of the game’s biggest names are visiting junior footy clubs this season to find out what makes kids’ wheels spin under a partnership with Hot Wheels.
The iconic car and games brand is in the third year of a partnership with the AFL Players’ Association, with Hawthorn premiership captain Luke Hodge one of 18 players who is reliving his boyhood and appearing on an annual Hot Wheels collector poster, nominating his go-to car.
Other players involved include Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield, Adelaide’s Eddie Betts, Melbourne’s Jesse Hogan, West Coast’s Josh Kennedy, Collingwood’s Steele Sidebottom and Carlton’s Patrick Cripps.
Cripps recently paid a visit to the boys from the Templestowe Under 8s and put them in the hot seat with a candid question-and-answer session. The young Dockers also got to turn the tables and ask a few hard-hitting questions to Cripps.
One of the boys asked Cripps whether he played with his Hot Wheels, to which he replied: “All the time. I like the one with flames on them, they go quick.”
The Blues champ then headed out into the soggy conditions to train with the Templestowe juniors and ended the evening by handing out a Hot Wheels prize pack. “This is epic,” one of the Templestowe kids shout as he raced off to show his parents.
