Continuing her stellar season, Fremantle midfielder Kiara Bowers has been named the Round 4 AFLW MVP of the Week, proudly supported by July.
The MVP win is Bowers’ second for the season and fifth in the competition’s four years.
In a one-sided affair, Bowers led Fremantle’s charge and continued to solidify herself as one of the best players this season, securing 47 per cent of the vote ahead of Adelaide’s Erin Phillips (27 per cent) and Collingwood’s Brianna Davey (26 per cent).
Bowers overcame a tight tag to finish the game with 17 touches and lay a staggering 15 tackles as the Dockers received a healthy percentage boost with the 49-point victory.
Returning to her best-and-fairest winning form, Phillips reminded everyone why she’s one of the competition’s most dangerous performers, with a prolific display in the forward-half of the ground.
Phillips gathered 21 disposals, eight marks, five inside 50s, four clearances and kicked four goals to almost single-handedly beat Brisbane.
Rounding out the three nominees, Collingwood co-captain Davey proved the difference for the Pies with a best-on-ground display. Davey collected 31 disposals, 13 contested possessions and seven clearances as Collingwood secured a 20-point win to remain as one of two undefeated teams in the competition.
The AFL Players’ Association AFLW MVP of the Week is in its fourth year and looks to recognise the AFLW’s best performers each round. Fans will get the choice to select the MVP of the Week, after three names have been put forward by the AFLPA.
All fans who vote will go into the running to win a personalised Carry Me bag from July, valued at $65. One lucky winner who votes each week will also go in the draw to win the ultimate July travel collection, including a Carry On, Checked & Checked Plus bag valued at $895.
