Carlton star Patrick Cripps has announced his credentials as a 2018 Shadforth Financial Group AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award contender by launching to second place after Round 10.
Despite his side losing to the Cats on Saturday night, Cripps recorded eight votes from the respective coaches, equal with Geelong’s Tom Stewart, after collecting 31 disposals, 22 of which were contested, and eight clearances and now sits five votes behind top spot.
Nat Fyfe’s 31 touches, 24 contested, and eight clearances in the Dockers’ loss to North Melbourne was enough for him to receive three votes and stay an arms length from the competition atop the leaderboard.
After bravely relinquishing his captaincy duties during the week as he battles with the loss of his father, Dayne Beams recorded maximum votes from the coaches for his 38 disposals, nine clearances and a goal, despite the Lions going down to the Swans in a low scoring affair.
Four players received maximum votes from the coaches in Round 10 including Beams, Josh Caddy (six goals and 24 disposals), Andrew Gaff (35 touches and 12 marks) and Angus Brayshaw (37 disposals and three goals)
