Richmond midfielder Dustin Martin has edged closer to the lead in the 2017 Shadforth Financial Group AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award, following a dominant performance in Round 10.
Martin collected 10 votes from the coaches for his 30-disposal and one goal effort in the Dreamtime at the ‘G clash — receiving his second-consecutive Yiooken Award as the best player on the ground.
Adelaide’s Rory Sloane continues to sit atop the leaderboard after polling seven votes from the coaches following his 30 touches, 13 tackles and two goals in their win against Fremantle on Saturday night.
Sloane sits six votes ahead of West Coast’s Elliot Yeo, who received four coaches’ votes, while Geelong skipper Joel Selwood rounds out the top three after collecting eight votes.
Five players received maximum votes from the coaches in Round 10, including the Western Bulldogs’ Jake Stringer (five goals), Adelaide’s Matt Crouch (35 disposals), Carlton’s Bryce Gibbs (38 touches and three goals) and GWS’ Callan Ward (33 disposals and 10 clearances).
