Hard-working Pie Lambert a cut above the rest

A starring display from Collingwood’s Jaimee Lambert headlines the Round 8 AFLW MVP of the Week nominations, proudly supported by Snaffle.

Brisbane’s Emily Bates and Adelaide’s Anne Hatchard earned themselves the other nominations for the weekly award, for their outstanding performances over the weekend.

Collingwood’s Lambert dominated across the ground in her side’s 10.6 (66) to 6.5 (41) win over the Western Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.

The former Bulldog found space inside 50, kicking three goals to cement the Pies’ much-needed 25-point victory.

Ensuring that her side kept their spot inside the top six, the 29-year-old midfielder dictated the play and finished the match with 22 disposals and six tackles.

Brisbane’s Bates was an integral part of the Lions’ record-breaking win over a tired West Coast outfit on Sunday.

Brisbane set a record for the biggest AFLW score in its 15.8 (98) to 4.0 (24) victory over the home side.

Dynamic midfielder, Bates, was outstanding for the Lions setting an AFLW record by collecting 22 disposals before half-time.

The 25-year-old finished up with 31 disposals and six tackles in her side’s 74-point thrashing of the Eagles.

Adelaide’s Hatchard starred in the midfield in her side’s tightly contested 3.7 (25) to 2.4 (16) victory over Fremantle on Saturday.

In a dominant performance, the 23-year-old took eight marks and racked up 31 disposals, nine of which came in the final quarter to lift her side to a nine-point win.
