Lite work for Docker Miller as she claims AFLW MVP of the Week nomination

A classy performance from Fremantle captain Hayley Miller headlines the Round 2 AFLW MVP of the Week nominations, proudly supported by Snaffle

Collingwood midfielder Brittany Bonnici and two-time Adelaide premiership player Anne Hatchard round out this week’s nominees, after blitzing the opposition in their sides’ respective victories.

After state border issues wreaked havoc on plans for a home match, a travelling Dockers outfit outran the Giants 7.10 (52) to 2.8 (20) at VU Whitten Oval on Sunday.

Fremantle’s Hayley Miller demonstrated determination and leadership as she captained her side to a comprehensive 32-point win over Greater Western Sydney.

The 25-year-old got off to a quiet start but was explosive after halftime, kicking 1.1 and garnering 19 disposals for the match. Miller was tireless in the midfield and worked to ensure that the Giants’ midfielders stayed out of the action.

Collingwood outclassed a struggling St Kilda side for a comfortable 6.5 (41) to 2.2 (14) win at Victoria Park on Saturday. The Magpies were the stronger side from the outset and cruised to a 27-point victory on their home turf. Brittany Bonnici worked overtime in Collingwood’s depleted midfield notching 26 disposals, seven marks, 10 tackles and six clearances in a best on ground performance.

Adelaide secured a strong start to the 2022 season putting consecutive wins on the board after defeating a resilient North Melbourne side 5.7 (37) to 3.6 (24) at Norwood Oval on Sunday.

With 29 disposals, midfielder Anne Hatchard was dominant in her side’s 13-point win over the Kangaroos. The 23-year-old rose to the occasion in a crucial second half for the Crows collecting seven disposals in the first six minutes of the third quarter. Under siege from a dangerous opposing midfield, Hatchard worked under pressure to nullify the impact of North Melbourne’s repeat entries and seal the win for Adelaide.
