Multicultural players putting AFL on the map

Ahead of Multicultural Round, aflplayers.com.au is proud to present its first Multicultural Map.

Football history is littered with great multicultural names; the likes of Jim Stynes, Robert Dipierdomenico, Peter Daicos and Stephen Silvagni amongst the most well-known.

But how many of today’s stars were either born overseas or had parents born beyond our shores?

Perhaps surprisingly, 14 percent of AFL-listed players (well over 100) are classified as multicultural. Many others celebrate the heritage of their grandparents or ancestors.

You can see the multicultural map, featuring all the AFL’s current multicultural players below – click the arrows at the bottom of the map to zoom in.
