Erin Phillips’ sensational return to AFLW action has resulted in the AFLW Players’ MVP from last season nominated for the AFLW MVP of the Week for Round 3, presented by Gloria Jean’s. The Adelaide Crows superstar is joined by the GWS Giants’ Alicia Eva and Emily Bates from the Brisbane Lions.

With their season in the balance at 0-2, Erin Phillips couldn’t have returned at a better time following a pre-season quad injury. In what was a narrow win over the Bulldogs, Phillips’ performance stood out from the rest, kicking four goals and gathering 15 disposals in the seven-point triumph to get their season back on track.

Playing against her former side, Alicia Eva was determined to help the Giants to their first victory of 2018. The former Magpie was the most dominant player on the ground, picking up 23 disposals in the 13-point win.

Brisbane rocketed to the top of the ladder following their comfortable 22-point win over the previously undefeated Blues. Emily Bates’ grunt work in the middle of the ground proved pivotal, touching the footy 20 times and laying six tackles.

The AFL Players’ Association has partnered with Gloria Jean’s to stage the prestigious AFLW Players’ MVP Award at the end of the season, and the AFLW MVP of the Week, a new concept that provides the fans with the opportunity to vote for the best performer of the round.

Fans will get the choice to select the MVP of the Week, after the three names have been put forward by the AFLPA.

All fans who vote will automatically receive a 2-for-1 coffee voucher to be used at any Gloria Jean’s store, and will go into the running to win the major weekly prize, a Moccamaster Coffee Machine, valued at $450. To vote, simply select the player you deem to be the MVP of the Week. Voting closes on Wednesday, February 21 at 5pm AEDT.
