The AFL Players’ Association is proud to release its 2026 Indigenous Player Map, showcasing and celebrating the cultural diversity across the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander playing group.
For more than 20 years, the Indigenous Player Map has been updated annually to include all current AFL and AFLW players and released ahead of Sir Doug Nicholls Round and National Reconciliation Week.
This year’s edition features 65 language groups of 64 AFL and 21 AFLW players.
Since its inception, more than 360 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players have been featured on the map, representing more than 140 language groups.
This year’s Indigenous Map features original artwork by Indigenous Advisory Board (IAB) member and proud Ningy Ningy woman Aliesha Newman.

Sir Doug Nicholls Round runs across Round 10 (14-17 May) and Round 11 (21-24 May). 2026 marks the 20th year the industry has had a dedicated Indigenous Round.
National Reconciliation Week runs from 27 May to 3 June. This year’s theme is All In, calling on all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.
