Players’ Top 50 – 20 to 11

In the modern game, which players are most respected by their peers?

We asked the players to share their opinions via a survey for AFL.com.au’s Players’ Top 50.

Sydney midfielder Josh Kennedy is the unlucky player to miss selection in the top 10 of the AFL Players’ Top 50.

The 188cm former Hawk was voted in at number 11, with players 11 through to 20 announced this morning.

The latest group of ten to be revealed includes four club captains: Essendon’s Jobe Watson (12), Richmond’s Trent Cotchin (13), St Kilda’s Nick Riewoldt (16) and Brisbane Lions’ Tom Rockliff (19).

Rockliff joins the list at 19, having missed out by the slimmest of margins in 2014, voted in at number 51. Dyson Heppell (15) was also voted into this year’s Top 50 after missing selection in 2014.

Triple-Premiership stars Steve Johnson (17) and Sam Mitchell (18) also made the list, while Fremantle’s Aaron Sandilands (20) is the only ruckman to be included in the Players’ Top 50 so far.

2014 Brownlow Medallist Matt Priddis (14) is the highest ranking player from the Western Australian clubs thus far, joining Sandilands, David Mundy (33), Josh Kennedy (43) and Matthew Pavlich (45).
