The AFL Players’ Association delegate acts as a conduit between the AFLPA and their respective playing groups. Their role is to advocate on behalf of the playing group collective, whilst also acting as a resource for their teammates on current issues facing the playing group, the league more broadly and also promoting the AFLPA’s programs and services.
During CBA negotiations, delegates play a pivotal role in providing thoughts, opinions and suggestions on strategic imperatives of their teammates and the broader playing group.
Being a delegate also provides a great opportunity to develop leadership skills and the chance to sit on different committees within the AFL industry.
At minimum there are two delegates representing each AFL and AFLW club.
