Adelaide Crows skipper Chelsea Randall led her team to another history-making win on Friday, earning herself the inaugural AFLW Showdown medal and an AFLW MVP of the Week nomination, presented by Snaffle.
The Crows shut down Port Adelaide in the inaugural AFLW Showdown, finishing Round 6 with a 60-point win against their cross-town rivals. Randall kicked three goals, alongside a clean 27 disposals, six marks, and five inside 50s, becoming the first AFLW player to take home the Showdown medal.
Randall is in good company this week, with North Melbourne’s Ashleigh Riddell also nominated for Round 6. Riddell dominated in the midfield when the Kangaroos took on the Swans over the weekend, rendering them goalless and finishing the match with 25 disposals, seven inside 50s and six clearances.
Also impressive this week was Geelong’s Nina Morrison, who led the Cats’ midfield in a one-point thriller against the Bulldogs on Saturday. Clocking 21 disposals and 10 tackles, Morrison’s unrelenting pressure was a standout in the Cats’ well-stacked midfield.
