We are now at the end of the premiership season and heading into the AFL Finals Series, with the players from the best teams to battle it out across September. It would however be remiss not to celebrate the efforts of the top performing players for the month of August, with Gold Coast co-captain Touk Miller, West Coast defender Tom Barrass and Richmond midfielder Shai Bolton being nominated for the AFLPA MVP of the Month Award, presented by Snaffle.
Touk Miller
Miller enjoyed an outstanding 2022 campaign and finished the season with a bang, despite his team just missing finals. The Suns co-captain averaged 30.5 disposals across the final month of the season to put himself in line for the AFLPA MVP Award and the Brownlow Medal.
Tom Barrass
Barrass’ season has flown under the radar, with the defender’s efforts in a struggling team getting the plaudits they deserve. Barrass’ standout game came in round 22 where he had 14 intercepts, 12 marks and 20 disposals.
Shai Bolton
One of the most dynamic players in the game, Bolton’s ability to change the course of a game is one of his standout features. The midfielder/forward kicked nine goals across the final four games of the year and it could have been more had he kicked more accurately.
