Adelaide vice-captain Rory Sloane has extended his lead in the Shadforth Financial Group AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award following Round 6.
Sloane collected nine votes from the respective coaches following his 33 disposals, eight tackles and three goals in the top of the table clash against the Tigers.
The 27-year-old was two votes ahead of Joel Selwood going into Round 6 but the Geelong skipper failed to register a vote in the club’s first loss of the season, with Sloane now 11 votes ahead of next best Selwood and Clayton Oliver.
Still only 19 and with 19 AFL games to his name, Oliver polled six votes in the Demons’ win against the Bombers on Sunday for his 33-disposal effort.
Entering the leaderboard for the first time in 2017, Gold Coast’s Gary Ablett received 10 votes from the coaches after collecting 45 touches, 27 contested possessions and 18 clearances in the club’s close loss to North Melbourne.
Other players to receive maximum votes from Round 6 include Port Adelaide’s Charlie Dixon (four goals and 12 marks) and Collingwood’s Scott Pendlebury (33 touches and nine tackles).
