A best-on-ground performance from Collingwood half-back Ash Brazill headlines the nominations for this week’s AFLW MVP of the Week nominees, presented by Gloria Jean’s. Brazill is joined by Fremantle’s Kiara Bowers and the GWS Giants’ Alicia Eva.

The first Collingwood player to be nominated this season, Brazill was dominant as the Magpies overcame Brisbane by six points to record their first win of the season in the final round. Playing on livewire forward Jess Wuetschner, Brazill gathered 23 disposals, including 19 kicks, as she continued her strong season in an otherwise disappointing year for the Magpies. In arguably her best performance for the season, Brazill broke the record for effective kicks in the AFLW with 14 and tied the record for rebound 50s with nine.

Nominated for the third week in a row, midfielder Bowers led Fremantle to their maiden AFLW finals berth after defeating North Melbourne by 27 points. Bowers was again best on ground collecting 22 touches and laying 13 tackles.

Influential throughout the midfield, Eva racked up 17 touches, including 14 kicks, nine tackles and four marks in the Giants’ 31-point upset victory over Geelong. The Giants vice-captain kicked a goal with six minutes remaining to all but seal victory for GWS and end their season on a high.

The AFL Players’ Association has partnered with Gloria Jean’s again in 2019 to stage the prestigious AFLW Players’ MVP Award at the end of the season, and the AFLW MVP of the Week.

Fans will get the choice to select the MVP of the Week, after three names have been put forward by the AFLPA.

All fans who vote will automatically receive a 2-for-1 coffee voucher to be used at any Gloria Jean’s store, and will go into the running to win the major weekly prize, a Moccamaster Coffee Machine, valued at $450. To vote, simply select the player you deem to be the MVP of the Week below. Voting closes on Wednesday, February 6 at 5pm AEDT.
