After enjoying stellar performances in Round 1, Collingwood’s Chloe Molloy, Brisbane’s Sabrina Frederick-Traub, and the Western Bulldogs’ Katie Brennan have been nominated for the AFLW MVP of the Week, presented by Gloria Jean’s.

Chloe Molloy was the talking point of the round after managing to shut down dangerous Carlton forward Darcy Vescio, while collecting 20 disposals of her own in her debut AFLW match. The 19-year-old, who was selected with pick three by the Magpies in last year’s draft, was the leading possession-getter on the ground on Friday night and held last year’s leading goal-kicker to seven touches and no impact on the scoreboard.

Sabrina Frederick-Traub worked tirelessly on Saturday in the Grand Final rematch, grabbing a remarkable 10 marks in an imposing display by the Lions’ key forward.

Katie Brennan, who missed the majority of the inaugural AFLW season, spent no time warming into the first game for the season, kicking three first half goals and collecting six marks while leading the Bulldogs to a 26-point win against the Dockers.

The AFL Players’ Association has partnered with Gloria Jean’s to stage the prestigious AFLW Players’ MVP Award at the end of the season, and the AFLW MVP of the Week, a new concept that provides the fans with the opportunity to vote for the best performer of the round.

Fans will get the choice to select the MVP of the Week, after the three names have been put forward by the AFLPA.

All fans who vote will automatically receive a 2-for-1 coffee voucher to be used at any Gloria Jean’s store, and will go into the running to win the major weekly prize, a Moccamaster Coffee Machine, valued at $450. To vote, simply select the player you deem to be the MVP of the Week below. Voting closes on Wednesday, February 7 at 5pm AEDT.
