Something Old

He was featured last week but it’s hard to go past 300-gamer Corey Enright. The 33-year-old half-back became just the third Geelong player to reach the triple-century milestone against the Demons on Sunday and, even though they didn’t come away with the chocolates, he was far from his side’s worst on the day.

Enright is yet to decide if he’ll play on next season but he’s still as consistent as ever, averaging a career-high four rebounds a game and is second at the club for disposals in 2015 with some pundits believing the three-time premiership Cat is in All-Australian form.

Something New

Without a win at Kardinia Park since 2005, and the last six losses averaging a 71-point margin, you could’ve forgiven the Demons for having recurring nightmares when travelling down the highway on Sunday.

But it wasn’t to be as Paul Roos’s men put behind the costly 40 seconds of last week to jump the Cats at home with a 24-point win. Before the game, Melbourne’s last 11 starts against the Cats had registered a draw and 10 losses with their last win against the powerhouse coming in Round 6, 2006.

Lynden Dunn – the only remaining Melbourne player from the win in 2006 – played his first AFL game that day, kicking two goals and Jared Rivers had 24 disposals while wearing the red and blue jumper.

Something Borrowed

Last week it was Cam Guthrie but Adelaide’s Charlie Cameron continued the party this week borrowing an NBA celebration after nailing two majors on Thursday night against the Hawks.

The young forward imitated Houston Rockets star James Harden’s ‘stirring the pot’ move after both of his goals with the celebration supposedly meaning ‘something’s cooking’ when Harden’s shot a three-pointer during a game.

Something Blue

This section isn’t always negative with the Carlton Football Club in here for the right reasons this week.

After arguably the toughest first-half to a season the club have had, they pulled off their first win for the year on Australian soil – they won in New Zealand during the Anzac weekend – beating Port Adelaide in a thriller.

With youngster Patrick Cripps leading the way with 31 disposals, 12 tackles, and nine clearances, John Barker’s men raced to a 29-point lead during the last quarter before a typical Port resurgence brought the margin back to four points at the final siren, snapping the Blues’ seven-game losing streak.
