Players’ MVP of the Month nominees — August

Sydney superstar Lance Franklin has been rewarded for his big month with his first nomination for the AFL Players’ Association’s Most Valuable Player of the Month for August.

Franklin bagged 18 goals across four games, including a 10-goal haul in Round 23 against the Blues to take his total for the season to 69 and securing his fourth Coleman Medal.

Franklin comes up against back-to-back MVP for June and July, Dustin Martin, who is the only player to be nominated for the award in every month this season.

West Coast spearhead Josh Kennedy kicked 16 goals in four games to held the Eagles secure a finals spot, and has been duly rewarded with his first MVP of the Month nomination.

Adelaide ball magnet Matt Crouch also receives his maiden nomination after averaging 37 disposals in August, and breaking the Crows’ club record for most disposals in a season — Crouch averaged 33 touches per game throughout the home and away season.

MVP of the Month for May, Josh Kelly, has received his second nomination on the back of a month of strong play including a match-winning 43-disposal performance against the Eagles in Round 22.
