Fremantle midfielder Kiara Bowers has been voted by the fans as the Round 7 AFLW MVP of the Week, presented by Gloria Jean’s.
Nominated for the third time this season, Bowers claimed victory over Collingwood’s Ash Brazill and the GWS Giants’ Alicia Eva, becoming the first Docker to do so in 2019.
A late flurry of votes handed Bowers a comfortable win, holding off Brazill after receiving 54 percent of the votes from fans, compared to the Collingwood star’s 40 percent. Bowers led Fremantle to a maiden AFLW finals berth after gathering 22 touches and laying 13 tackles.
Dual-athlete Brazill was best on ground in the Pies only win of the season, collecting 23 disposals, including 19 kicks, and nine rebound 50s.
Giants vice-captain Eva rounded out the three nominees with six per cent of the vote following her 17 disposals, nine tackles and four marks, in her side’s upset victory over AFLW finalists Geelong.
The AFL Players’ Association has partnered with Gloria Jean’s to stage the prestigious AFLW Players’ MVP Award at the end of the season, and the AFLW MVP of the Week again in 2019, a concept that provides fans with the opportunity to vote for the best performer of the round.
Gloria Jean’s is the official coffee partner of the AFL Players’ Association and the proud sponsor of the 2019 AFLW MVP Awards, including the AFLW MVP of the Week competition. Each weekly entrant will receive a 2-for-1 coffee voucher to visit your local Gloria Jeans store.
