20 Day Challenge Starts Today

The TeamUp 20 Day Challenge – which encourages Victorians to get moving for the next 20 days to help form healthy habits – begins today.

AFL players throughout Victoria will be taking part in the challenge, with Carlton’s Bryce Gibbs and Geelong’s Tom Lonergan set to kick things off at today’s Run for the Kids event in the CBD.

TeamUp is an app available on iPhone, Android or Facebook that allows users to connect with others in their area who are looking for people to exercise with.

Gibbs and Lonergan have had little to do with each other previously, but in true TeamUp style, are meeting up to kick off the 20 Day Challenge.

“It should be good” Gibbs says.

“It’s always good to go to these sorts of events, meet new people and have a bit of fun. That’s what it’s all about.”

Other AFL stars such as Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury and Richmond midfielder Dan Jackson are also set to take part in the 20 Day Challenge, and will be teaming up with Victorians in the weeks ahead.

Pendlebury says the TeamUp initiative provides a great platform for those who want to be more active, but aren’t sure how to take the first step.

“Whether you want to join a local footy team or just go for a walk every now and then, TeamUp is a great way to find others nearby who are in the same position as you,” Pendlebury said.

“When you’re not in the habit of regular physical activity, it can be tough to take the first step. The 20 Day Challenge is a great place to start.”
