Bowers doubles up as AFLW MVP

For the second time this season, Kiara Bowers has been voted by the fans as the Round 5 AFLW MVP of the Week.

The Fremantle midfielder dominated against the Lions, collecting 21 disposals and a trademark 15 tackles.

Bowers claimed 48 per cent of the votes, ahead of Collingwood’s Brianna Davey (35 per cent) and Geelong’s Nina Morrison (17 per cent).

New Pies recruit Davey was critical in her side’s win over the Saints, gathering 30 touches and laying 10 tackles as Collingwood kept finals in its reach with a 32-point victory.

Morrison rounded out the three nominees with her best-on-ground performance (23 disposals, eight tackles) against Gold Coast in hot and humid conditions.

The AFL Players’ Association AFLW MVP of the Week is in its third year and looks to recognise the AFLW’s best performers each round. Fans will get the choice to select the MVP of the Week, after three names have been put forward by the AFLPA.

All fans who voted are now in the running to win an Official Sherrin AFLW gameball, valued at $189.99. A new winner will be selected each week, so don’t forget to keep voting.
