Gee-whiz, Blues young gun voted MVP

Lively Carlton forward Georgia Gee has been voted by the fans as the final MVP of the Week for 2020.

The 20-year-old kicked three goals and collected 12 touches, three inside 50s and laid two tackles, as the Blues finished their season on a high with a 29-point win over Brisbane.

Gee claimed 43 per cent of the votes ahead of two-time MVP of the Week Kiara Bowers (34 per cent) and Collingwood’s Brittany Bonnici (23 per cent).

Nominated for the third time this season, Bowers continued her magnificent season in Fremantle’s 70-point thrashing of the Gold Coast Suns. Bowers collected 22 touches, laid 18 tackles and took six marks as the Dockers finished their season undefeated.

Despite going down to North Melbourne in the dying minutes of Saturday’s game, Bonnici was a standout for the Pies, amassing 20 touches, eight handball receives, five inside 50s and laying three tackles. The 23-year-old finished her season on a high, showing why the Pies’ faithful love her so much.

The AFL Players’ Association AFLW MVP of the Week is in its third year and looks to recognise the AFLW’s best performers each round. Fans have the opportunity to select the MVP of the Week, after three names have been put forward by the AFLPA.

All fans who voted are now in the running to win an Official Sherrin AFLW gameball, valued at $189.99.
