Midfielder Marinoff crowned MVP of the Week

Adelaide midfielder Ebony Marinoff has been voted by the fans as the Round 6 AFLW MVP of the Week, presented by Gloria Jean’s.

This is Marinoff’s first win from three nominations this season, after previously being nominated in Rounds 1 and 3. Marinoff’s win also marks the fourth win for Adelaide after teammates Stevie-Lee Thompson (Round 2) and Erin Phillips (Rounds 3 and 5) were earlier crowned AFLW MVPs of the Week.

It was a comfortable win for Marinoff, as she held off Fremantle’s Kiara Bowers, after her 24 disposals, 10 tackles and eight clearances proved too strong, earning a whopping 60 percent of the fan vote.

Nominated for the second week in a row, Bowers fell short of becoming Fremantle’s first MVP of the Week for 2019, receiving 33 percent of the vote. Bowers laid 19 tackles, gathered 16 disposals and collected eight clearances to keep the Dockers within reach of finals.

Carlton’s Maddy Prespakis rounded out the three nominees with seven percent of the vote following her 27 disposals as the Blues moved to the top of the ladder in conference B.

The AFL Players’ Association has partnered with Gloria Jean’s to stage the prestigious AFLW Players’ MVP Award at the end of the season, and the AFLW MVP of the Week again in 2019, a concept that provides fans with the opportunity to vote for the best performer of the round.

Gloria Jean’s is the official coffee partner of the AFL Players’ Association and the proud sponsor of the 2019 AFLW MVP Awards, including the AFLW MVP of the Week competition. Each weekly entrant will receive a 2-for-1 coffee voucher to visit your local Gloria Jeans store.
