Record-breaking Bowers Claims AFLW MVP of the Week

Fremantle’s Kiara Bowers has claimed her second AFLW MVP of the Week for Season 7, proudly presented by Snaffle.

Kiara Bowers is no stranger to impressive stats and standout performances, but Round 10 saw the Fremantle midfielder play one of her best games to date.

Bowers dominated the ground in the tight contest against the Hawks on Saturday, collecting 34 disposals (16 contested), eight clearances, and a total of 481 metres gained. Even with game-highs across the board, it was the gun midfielder’s signature tackling talent that saw “Turbo” etch her name into the history books.

Clocking an unbelievable 22 tackles, Bowers now holds the record for most tackles in a game – for both women’s and men’s football. The previous record sat at 21 tackles and was held jointly by Ebony Marinoff and Cathy Svarc.

The other AFLW MVP of the Week nominees for Round 10 were Ellie Blackburn (Western Bulldogs) and Jesse Wardlaw (Brisbane Lions).
