Western Bulldogs AFLW player Ange Gogos is the nurturing type.

So it was only natural for her to put her hand up after a presentation from youth homelessness charity, Ladder, at the beginning of the 2017 season — the inaugural year for AFLW.

Gogos wanted to help out and, given her profession, it was an easy fit, with the inside midfielder right at home as a mentor and guiding those within the Ladder program through various activities.

“Being a school teacher, when you get to know your students you realise the struggles some of them have,” Gogos told AFLPlayers.com.au.

“They’re just lovely, vibrant young individuals. They’re happy and willing to give anything a crack. Since I applied to be a mentor, I’ve just loved it.”

Ladder’s raising awareness for Homelessness Week, with the AFL Players’ Association releasing a video series demonstrating the outstanding work that AFL players do with the charity.

The videos feature Gogos, Collingwood’s Darcy Moore and North Melbourne’s Trent Dunmont to be released on AFLPlayers.com.au and ladder.org.au this week.

The players’ also donated more than $200,000 to the Ladder on Wednesday as part of the Players Care initiative.
