A classy midfield display has earned Brisbane’s Emily Bates the title of Round 5 AFLW MVP of the Week, brought to you by Snaffle.
The vice-captain and key member of the Lions’ engine room brought her usual professionalism to Saturday’s match against Collingwood, in which her side triumphed 5.5 (35) to 1.5 (11).
Playing an integral role in her side’s third-straight win after a grueling 11-day stretch of matches, the 25-year-old picked up 23 disposals, 12 of which were contested, and had five tackles for the match.
The dual All Australian showed her composure in the blustery conditions, delivering a crucial goal in the third term to punctuate her team’s 24-point victory.
Continuing to cement her reputation as one of the competition’s most consistent midfielders, the inaugural Lion is putting up career-best numbers this season averaging 22.3 average disposals, 5.3 average clearances and 3.3 average score involvements.
